Agnews Historic Park

Agnews Historic Park preserves three buildings from the former California Hospital for the Chronic Insane, a large 19th-century institution badly damaged in the 1906 San Francisco earthquake. The disaster killed more than 100 people here and led to major changes in hospital design.

The surviving buildings now sit in a landscaped historic park. It is a quiet stop, but an interesting one for visitors looking beyond Santa Clara's technology campuses and theme-park sights.
