Jake Jackson Museum

Weaverville's local history museum, housed in a building on Main Street, covers the full arc of Trinity County life from its Indigenous Chimariko and Wintu inhabitants through the Gold Rush years and into the 20th century. The collection includes hydraulic mining equipment, Native American basketry, early pioneer photographs, and a reconstruction of a period assay office. Small but well-curated — the mining section in particular is thorough, explaining the hydraulic and placer techniques that scarred hillsides across the region. Free to enter on most days; worth an hour before or after visiting the Joss House.
