Durango is in the far southwest corner of Colorado, about 7 hours' drive from Denver and 3 from Albuquerque. The most scenic approach is on Highway 550 from the north — the Million Dollar Highway that climbs through Silverton and Ouray over three high passes.
Durango-La Plata County Airport (DRO) is 16 miles southeast of town and has direct flights from Denver, Dallas, Phoenix and a few other hubs. The Amtrak network does not reach Durango — the only rail in town is the heritage railroad to Silverton.
