Naples sits on the Gulf of Mexico, which means calm, warm water and soft white sand that squeaks underfoot. Most of the city’s beaches face west, making them ideal sunset spots. Many are designated parks with facilities, open from 8am to sundown.
Vanderbilt Beach in northern Naples is a broad, well-maintained stretch popular with sunbathers and walkers. Restaurants and shops are within easy reach. Expect to pay for parking.
Delnor-Wiggins Pass State Park, just south of Vanderbilt Beach, feels a world away from the city. Mangrove swamps and creeks separate the park from Naples proper, and the Cocohatchee River flows through its waterways. Boardwalks wind past sea oats, cabbage palms, and tidal pools where you might spot loggerhead turtles or manatees. Swimming, fishing, and kayaking are all good here.
Lowdermilk Beach Park further south offers a playground, volleyball courts, and some of the best sunset views on this stretch of coast. It is a good pick for families.
Naples Pier Beach surrounds the historic pier itself. The beach is free, clean, and centrally located, making it the most convenient option if you are staying downtown.
