Getting There

Jacksonville International Airport (JAX) is about 20 kilometres north of downtown. It receives direct flights from most major US hubs — Atlanta, Charlotte, Dallas, New York, Philadelphia, and Washington are all well served — plus some seasonal nonstop routes to Europe. A rental car is the most practical option from the airport; taxis and ride-shares are available but the city's size makes having a car effectively necessary.

By road, Jacksonville sits at the intersection of I-95 (running north to south along the Atlantic seaboard) and I-10 (running east to west to Tallahassee and beyond). It is 345 miles from Miami, 375 miles from Atlanta, and 200 miles from Orlando. Amtrak's Silver Star and Silver Meteor trains stop at Jacksonville on the New York–Miami corridor — a scenic if slow option from either end. The Greyhound bus station is in downtown.
