Jacksonville Center for the Performing Arts

The Jacksonville Center for the Performing Arts (formerly Times-Union Center) is the main performing arts complex on the Northbank Riverwalk, housing three venues: Moran Theater (the largest, with 2,936 seats), Jacoby Symphony Hall (home of the Jacksonville Symphony), and Terry Theater (a smaller black-box space for experimental work). The complex hosts Broadway touring productions, classical concerts, jazz, opera, and dance year-round.

The Jacksonville Symphony Orchestra, founded in 1949, performs a regular season of classical, pops, and chamber concerts in Jacoby Hall, which opened in 2003 with notably good acoustics. The Symphony is one of the more serious cultural institutions in a city that has sometimes underestimated its own cultural life. Check the programme before your visit — a performance here makes for a very good evening in Jacksonville.
