When to Go

Palm Beach has two seasons. The high season runs from November to April, when the wealthy residents arrive from the north and the town operates at full capacity — restaurants require reservations weeks in advance, hotels charge peak rates, and Worth Avenue is busy. This is also, coincidentally, the best weather: dry, warm days in the low 80s Fahrenheit (25-28°C) and cool nights.

The summer season (May through October) sees most residents depart. Many restaurants reduce hours or close for the summer, and the town becomes quieter and considerably cheaper. The heat and humidity are significant — temperatures regularly exceed 90°F (32°C) with high humidity and afternoon thunderstorms almost daily from June through September. Hurricane season runs June through November, with peak risk in August and September; major storms are infrequent but not unknown. For visitors primarily interested in the architecture and museums, a shoulder month like October or early November offers lower prices and cooler temperatures than midsummer.
