Clematis Street runs west from Flagler Drive and the waterfront into the heart of downtown West Palm Beach. It is the city's oldest commercial street and still its liveliest: a six-block strip of restaurants, bars, music venues, and the occasional historic building that survived the post-war reinventions. The eastern end opens onto the waterfront and the small Centennial Square, where summer concerts run on Thursday evenings.
The character is more relaxed than the Worth Avenue gloss across the bridge on Palm Beach: students, residents, and visitors mixed together. Most of the action is in the evenings; lunchtime is quiet. Park in the city garage on Banyan and walk.
