Cali Fresa is Augusta's best-regarded independent coffee shop, occupying a pleasant spot in the downtown area with good espresso, pour-overs, and a small food menu. The space is comfortable and not overly designed — an actual neighbourhood café rather than a lifestyle statement. Wi-Fi is reliable and the staff are friendly. It opens early enough to be useful before morning sightseeing, and the afternoon is a good time to come in from the heat for something cold.
For visitors staying near the Medical District or the university area, there are a handful of other independent coffee options further afield, but Cali Fresa is the most convenient for downtown exploration.
