Eating Out

Augusta's food scene runs from legendary pit barbecue to refined Southern cooking in the historic downtown. The city has a strong tradition of slow-cooked barbecue — pulled pork, ribs, Brunswick stew — and at least one institution that has been feeding people for over sixty years without changing much. During Masters week every table in town fills up and waits grow long; reservations are essential. The rest of the year, downtown restaurants are easy to get into and generally good value.

Broad Street and the surrounding blocks hold most of the better restaurants — it's a walkable stretch and worth spending an evening on.
