Jimmy Carter House and Gravesite

The unpretentious single-story brick ranch house on Woodland Drive that Jimmy and Rosalynn Carter built in 1961 and lived in for the rest of their lives, with breaks only for the Georgia governorship and the presidency. After their deaths the property was deeded to the National Park Service.

The house is opening gradually to public tours; check the park visitor centre for the current schedule, which is limited and often booked weeks in advance. The grounds, including the memorial garden and the Carters' shared gravesite at the back of the property, are accessible during park hours. The setting is deliberately modest and worth seeing in that spirit.
