Polihua Beach

Remote two-mile beach on Lanai’s northwest coast, beautiful but unsafe for swimming

Polihua Beach is Lanai at its wildest: a long, pale sweep of sand on the island's northwest coast, reached by rough tracks rather than resort landscaping. On clear days the views stretch toward Molokai, and the isolation is the main attraction.

This is a beach for walking, photography, and solitude, not for casual swimming. Strong currents, wind, and the lack of facilities make it a serious outing; use a four-wheel-drive vehicle or a local guide, bring water, and treat the drive as part of the experience.
