Dollar Lake sits at the foot of Dollar Mountain, the gentler beginner-and-intermediate hill across the valley from Baldy. The lake itself is small and shallow, ringed by aspens and used for stand-up paddleboarding and casual fishing in summer. In winter it freezes and skaters cut tracks across the surface.
It is a five-minute drive from the Sun Valley Lodge. There is no charge and the parking is right at the water. Bring a picnic — the benches around the shore make a pleasant lunch stop after a morning on the slopes or trails.
