The Sun Valley resort runs two 18-hole courses, one designed by Robert Trent Jones Jr. in 1980 and the other a shorter "white clouds" course laid out by Jim Engh. Both run along Trail Creek with the Boulder Mountains as a backdrop and the elevation knocks a few yards off your distances.
Tee times can be hard to come by in July and August. Resort guests get priority; outside players can book a week or so ahead by phone. Greens fees are not cheap but the setting is among the best in the inter-mountain west.
