The Pedestrian Mall is the densest concentration of bars in eastern Iowa: George's, Joe's Place, the Airliner, and the Deadwood for proper old-school drinking; Big Grove Brewery and a clutch of newer wine and cocktail bars on Linn Street for more careful drinking. The Mill on Burlington remains the city's principal small-venue music room. For coffee, High Ground, Java House, and the upstairs café at Prairie Lights cover central downtown; Reunion Brewery on Clinton has good Iowa beer and views over the Pentacrest.
