Lake Fausse Pointe State Park

Lake Fausse Pointe State Park protects a broad stretch of swamp and bayou on the western edge of the Atchafalaya Basin. Canoes and kayaks are the best way to see it, with cypress, open water, and quiet channels giving a strong taste of south Louisiana wetland country.

The park also has cabins, camping, and marked paddling routes, so it can be either a half-day nature break from New Iberia or a slower overnight stop.
