Pitot House Museum and Gardens

Pitot House is an early-19th-century Creole country house on Bayou St. John, best known as the former home of James Pitot, New Orleans' first American mayor after the Louisiana Purchase. The house museum gives a quieter look at local domestic life away from the French Quarter, with period rooms and gardens that suit the bayou setting.

It pairs well with a walk along Bayou St. John or a visit to nearby City Park and the New Orleans Museum of Art.
