The Enchanted Forest opened in 1955 — the first themed amusement park east of the Mississippi — and closed quietly in the 1990s as bigger parks took over. For years its fibreglass dragons, gingerbread houses, and giant pumpkin coach sat abandoned behind a strip mall on US-40. Most of the figures have now been moved a couple of miles away to the Clark's Elioak Farm petting zoo, restored, and arranged along a children's walking path.
It's not a major sight, but it's a peculiar one — a strange, time-warped fragment of mid-century Americana that visitors from outside the area will not find anywhere else. Best with kids; the farm is open seasonally, roughly April through November.
