Cabin John Regional Park is one of the larger green escapes near Rockville, with wooded trails, picnic areas, playgrounds, sports facilities, and a miniature train that is popular with children. It gives suburban Montgomery County a practical outdoor anchor.
It is not a wilderness experience, but it is very useful if you are travelling with family or want a break from highways and office parks. The park is best in mild weather, when the trail network and picnic areas are easy to enjoy.
