Phillips House is a Chestnut Street mansion with a layered Salem story: Derby family wealth, inherited rooms moved from an older house, and a twentieth-century family collection preserved by Historic New England. The result is less polished than a period-room museum and more interesting for it.
Tours give a look at the furniture, carriages, family objects, and domestic technology of a wealthy Salem household. It pairs naturally with a walk along Chestnut Street.
