Capitol City Brewing Company

Jefferson City's main brewpub, steps from the trail and downtown

The Capitol City Brewing Company is Jefferson City's home brewpub, a reliable stop for a beer and a meal after a stretch on the Katy Trail. They brew a rotating selection of ales and lagers alongside the expected pub menu — burgers, sandwiches, salads. The location near the downtown core makes it a natural end point to a day of sightseeing, and the patio is pleasant in warm weather.

During the legislative session, which runs from January through May, this is one of the places where Capitol business gets conducted informally. You can't always tell a lobbyist from a constituent, and you probably won't try, but the mix of people gives the place a livelier energy than your average mid-Missouri brewpub. Nothing extraordinary, but exactly what a state capital town needs — and better for the atmosphere than a corporate chain would be.
