Jefferson City's attractions cluster around the Capitol hill and the riverfront. The Missouri State Capitol is the obvious starting point, but the old state penitentiary on the edge of downtown is arguably the more memorable visit. The Katy Trail gives the city an outdoor dimension that most state capitals can't match.
