Jefferson City is a car town. The downtown area around the Capitol is walkable — the Capitol, Governor's Mansion, Jefferson Landing, and the penitentiary are all within reasonable walking distance of each other — but most of the city requires a car. The Katy Trail trailhead is accessible on foot from downtown. There is no Uber or Lyft service; taxis are available but limited. If you're arriving by train, downtown is an easy 10-minute walk from the station.
