Things to Do

The headline act is the Beartooth Highway, the alpine road that climbs from town up to a 10,947-foot pass and over into Yellowstone. Everything else in Red Lodge is supporting cast: the historic main street, the ski mountain, a wildlife sanctuary, the trails into the surrounding wilderness. None of it takes long to see, which is part of the appeal.

The summer season runs late May to mid-October, when the pass is open. Winters are for skiing, snowshoeing, and the bars on Broadway.
