Humboldt County Courthouse

A striking 1921 Beaux-Arts courthouse with a tall white classical portico, two storeys of arched windows, and a small green park in front. It is the most architecturally serious building in town and is still the working county courthouse.

The interior is open during business hours; the old courtroom on the second floor is worth a quick look. The cottonwoods on the lawn are the same trees that appear in every 1920s photograph of the building.
