The Cape May MAC runs narrated trolley tours that loop through the historic district several times a day. The 45-minute version covers the highlights — Hughes Street, the Pink House, the Mainstay Inn, Congress Hall — with commentary on the Victorian architecture and the fire of 1878 that wiped out the old town and forced the rebuild that gave Cape May its current character.
There are also themed tours: ghost tours after dark, food tours through Washington Street restaurants, and Christmas-lights tours in December. Tickets sell out in peak season; book a day ahead. Stops are at the Washington Street Mall information booth and the Physick Estate.
