Wildwood is a classic Jersey Shore boardwalk town at the southern tip of New Jersey, a few miles north of Cape May. The beaches are wide, white, and free — unusual for the Jersey Shore — and the Wildwood Boardwalk stretches for two miles with amusement rides at Morey's Piers, water parks, games, and enough funnel cake to last a lifetime.
The town is also known for its Doo Wop motels — brightly coloured mid-century modern motor lodges from the 1950s and 60s, many still operating, that give the town a retro charm unlike anywhere else on the East Coast. Wildwood fills up on summer weekends but is quieter midweek. The surf is gentle, making it a popular family destination.
