Day Trips

The Turquoise Trail (Highway 14) is the essential Albuquerque day trip. This national scenic byway heads northeast through old mining towns like Golden, Madrid, and Cerrillos, now filled with artists, crafts shops, and small restaurants. It connects to Santa Fe and makes for a far more interesting drive than the interstate. The Jemez Mountains to the northwest offer hot springs, the Jemez State Monument, and the scenic byway through Jemez Springs.
