Albuquerque takes its food seriously, and the local cuisine will test your chile tolerance. The question "red or green?" (or "Christmas" for both) accompanies nearly every meal. The best restaurants cluster along Central Avenue near UNM and in the Nob Hill area, but good New Mexican food can be found in every neighborhood. Be warned -- when they say hot, they mean it.
