Lyceum Theater

1920 vaudeville-and-cinema theatre still operating as a community arts venue

Address 411 Main Street

Built in 1919–20, the Lyceum is the older of Clovis's two restored historic theatres — it predates the Art Deco State Theater by sixteen years — and was originally a combined vaudeville stage and cinema. The brick façade and modest cornice are unchanged; inside, the original proscenium and balcony have been restored.

The Clovis Community Players use the building for plays, musicals and the occasional concert. Check the season programme if you are in town for an evening; the theatre is the best example of small-town early-twentieth-century entertainment architecture in the state.
