Wijiji is the latest and most symmetrical of the Chacoan great houses, a compact rectangular block of about 100 rooms built in a single phase around AD 1110–1115. The architecture is unusually regular, almost machine-laid, and unlike most of the canyon pueblos it shows no signs of remodelling or earlier construction underneath.
A flat 5 km round-trip trail leads east along the Chaco Wash to reach it, with the cliff face on one side and big desert sky on the other. The walk is the point as much as the ruin — quiet, simple, and very Chacoan in feel.
