Rochester Public Market

Operating since 1905, the Rochester Public Market is one of the great farmers' markets of the American northeast — a covered market on Union Street that runs year-round on Saturday and Tuesday mornings. On Saturdays it becomes a genuine event: hundreds of vendors selling produce, meat, fish, cheese, baked goods, plants, and an international spread of prepared food that reflects Rochester's diverse immigrant communities. The produce is local and seasonal; in summer, the tomatoes and sweet corn are extraordinary. Come early, bring a bag, and plan to eat breakfast while you shop. The Tuesday market is smaller but equally good for locals who know it.

280 North Union Street. Saturday 5am–3pm, Tuesday 6am–1pm, year-round. Free entry.
