Things to Do

Rochester punches well above its weight for a mid-sized American city. The Kodak era endowed it with serious cultural institutions — a world-class photography museum, a strong art gallery, one of the country's great science museums for children — and the Genesee River provides geological drama right in the urban core. Outside the centre, Highland Park's lilac collection, the historic cemetery shared by Frederick Douglass and Susan B. Anthony, and the Public Market round out a city with more depth than its rust-belt reputation suggests.
