Rochester's bar scene clusters in a few neighbourhoods: the East End district around Alexander Street is the city's main strip, while the South Wedge has the more local-feeling bars and the High Falls district has the converted-industrial aesthetic. The city's brewing heritage is real — Genesee has been making lager and cream ale here since 1878 — and a new generation of craft breweries has grown up around it.
