Lake Flower

Small lake on the eastern edge of the village, with paddling and the winter ice palace

Lake Flower is the small lake that sits right against the eastern edge of the village — close enough to walk to from Main Street. It is the most accessible of the Saranac Lakes for casual paddling: kayaks and stand-up paddleboards can be rented from outfitters along the waterfront, and the open water leads via short carries up into the larger Lower, Middle, and Upper Saranac lakes for longer trips.

Every February the lake hosts the centrepiece of the Saranac Lake Winter Carnival: a large ice palace built from blocks cut from the frozen surface and lit with colour-changing lights. Construction starts in early January and the palace stands for the duration of the carnival, then melts back into the lake by April. A swimming beach operates in summer at the southern end.
