Durham Performing Arts Center

DPAC — the Durham Performing Arts Center — opened in 2008 on the south edge of American Tobacco Campus and is now the busiest theatre in the Carolinas, regularly ranked among the highest-grossing theatre venues in the United States. The 2,700-seat hall hosts touring Broadway shows, major concerts, and the larger Duke and University of North Carolina graduations.

The building itself, by Pelli Clarke Pelli, is a striking glass-fronted modern hall with a wide open plaza facing the Bulls baseball park. Tickets for Broadway tours and the bigger concerts sell out months ahead; smaller events are easier to walk up to.
