Durham Central Park and Farmers' Market

Durham Central Park, ten minutes' walk north of the city centre, is the principal green space of central Durham — open lawns, public sculptures, a children's play structure, and the year-round Saturday Farmers' Market in the central pavilion. The market, in operation since 1998, draws producers from across the surrounding farmland and is one of the highest-quality small-city markets in the South-East.

The park hosts a regular Sunday-afternoon food-truck rodeo from spring through autumn, and the Friday-evening pop-up beer garden has become a downtown institution. Outside event times, the park is small but pleasant — a useful break between downtown walking and a meal.
