The Medora Musical is a Western-themed musical revue staged nightly through summer at the open-air Burning Hills Amphitheatre, a natural bowl cut into the bluff west of town. The show celebrates Roosevelt, cowboys, patriotism, and North Dakota in roughly equal measure, with horses on stage, a live band, and the painted Badlands forming the literal backdrop behind the performers.
It is unapologetically corny, and that is part of its appeal. Pair it with the pitchfork fondue beforehand — steaks impaled on pitchforks and lowered into hot oil — and you have Medora's signature evening out. Tickets are available online and sell out fast in peak season; allow time to drive up to the amphitheatre and find seats. Runs early June through early September.
