Canton Museum of Art

The Canton Museum of Art, founded in 1935, is a well-regarded regional art museum with a permanent collection strong in American watercolours, ceramics, and works on paper. The collection includes pieces by major American artists of the 19th and 20th centuries, and the museum presents rotating temporary exhibitions that frequently feature contemporary work from regional and national artists.

The building sits in Canton's Arts District, near the downtown core. Admission is affordable and the museum is genuinely engaging — a good stop for a couple of hours between the Hall of Fame and the McKinley sites. The Arts District around it has galleries and studios, and the monthly First Friday event brings people downtown on the first Friday of each month.
