William McKinley Presidential Library and Museum

The William McKinley Presidential Library and Museum sits adjacent to the McKinley National Memorial on Monument Park and covers McKinley's life, presidency, and era in considerable depth. The museum was founded in 1945 and has grown into one of the more substantial presidential libraries in the Midwest, with exhibits on the 1890s economy, the Spanish-American War, the annexation of Hawaii and the Philippines, and the McKinley family's life in Canton.

Beyond the presidential material, the museum has a strong natural history section with a planetarium, a replica 19th-century Ohio street that children enjoy, and a large archive of campaign memorabilia, photographs, and documents. The Ramsayer Research Library holds extensive primary sources on the era. Plan to spend at least two hours; the museum and the adjacent National Memorial together make for a worthwhile half-day.
