The Liberty Aviation Museum sits inside the Port Clinton Airport and houses an impressive collection of World War II-era aircraft, including fighters, a torpedo bomber, and a flyable B-17 Flying Fortress. The collection focuses on the air war of 1941–1945, and the interpretive material is strong — this is not just rows of planes but a genuine effort to explain the history and the people who flew in these machines.
The setting inside a working airport adds to the atmosphere: you can watch light aircraft taking off while examining a TBM Avenger torpedo bomber a few metres away. The museum also has a 1940s diner, appropriately period in its design. Check the schedule in advance if you want to see the B-17 fly — flight opportunities are limited and book quickly.
