Port Clinton Lighthouse

Historic 1896 lighthouse at the northern end of Water Works Park

The Port Clinton Lighthouse stands at the northern end of Water Works Park, a small but attractive green space on the lakefront. The lighthouse was built in 1896 — the current structure is actually a reconstruction, as the original was destroyed — and sits on a pier extending into Lake Erie. It is not open to the interior, but the surrounding park is a pleasant place to walk and watch the lake.

The waterfront here gives good views across the lake towards the Bass Islands on clear days. South Bass Island (Put-in-Bay) is visible to the north and the lighthouse is a natural focal point for a waterfront walk. The park also has picnic areas and is a popular local spot for watching sunsets over Lake Erie.
