Bizzell Memorial Library

The Bizzell is the centrepiece of the OU campus and the most photographed building in Norman — a five-storey, Cherokee Gothic library of brick and limestone, completed in 1929 to designs by Joseph Foucart with later wings by Layton, Hicks & Forsyth. The Great Reading Room on the second floor is one of the best public-university interiors in the United States, with a vaulted plaster ceiling, oak panelling, and tall arched windows.

Drop in to see the reading room (open during library hours), check out the rotating displays from the Western History Collections in the basement, and look at the building from the front for the famous view down the South Oval. Quiet inside. Free; open to the public during normal library hours.
