Gaylord Family Oklahoma Memorial Stadium

Home of the Oklahoma Sooners football team and one of the great college-football venues in America. The stadium opened in 1923 with a capacity of 16,000; it now seats 80,126, and on home Saturdays it becomes the third-largest "city" in Oklahoma. The bowl is brick on the outside, painted Sooner crimson on the inside, with an open east end that frames a view of the Bizzell Library tower.

For non-football visitors the stadium is worth a quick walk around. The Heisman Park outside the south gate displays bronzes of Oklahoma's seven Heisman Trophy winners — more than any other Big 12 program. Game-day tickets are nearly impossible to come by without a connection; the spring "red-white" scrimmage in April is free and a good substitute.
