Sooner Theatre

A 1929 Spanish Colonial Revival movie palace on East Main Street, listed on the National Register of Historic Places and the only surviving theatre of its kind in central Oklahoma. The exterior has the elaborate plasterwork, twisted Solomonic columns, and red-tile roof of the style; the auditorium inside is even better preserved, with a starry-night ceiling and an organ alcove.

It runs now as a performing-arts centre rather than a cinema — live music, touring productions, and a heavy schedule of children's theatre programmes through the Sooner Theatre Center for Youth. Most evenings have something on. Worth a 10-minute look from the outside even when you can't catch a show.
