Eating Out

Oklahoma City eats well. The famous draw is the Stockyards steakhouses — Cattlemen's foremost among them — but the more interesting food is in the immigrant neighbourhoods: Vietnamese restaurants along Classen in the Asia District, Mexican taquerias in Capitol Hill, and a steadily growing population of inventive independent restaurants in Midtown and the Plaza District. The state-fair-and-rodeo classics are also here in quantity: chicken-fried steak, fried okra, sweet tea, and locally-made beer from a dozen craft breweries.

The Bricktown bars and restaurants are the busiest after dark; they are reliable but not necessarily where most locals eat. Head to Midtown or the Plaza District for something with more character.
