Astoria has a thriving craft brewery scene for a city its size. Fort George Brewery, the most prominent, occupies a converted garage and cannery near the waterfront and produces a wide range of beers on site. The Public House at Fort George is one of the best pub spaces in Oregon — large, well-lit, and with good food alongside the beer.
Coffee culture is also strong. The Columbian Cafe, a tiny institution on Marine Drive, is worth seeking out for its eccentric menu and local character. Voodoo Doughnut, the Portland-based chain with the outrageous flavours, has a location in town for those needing a sugar fix.
