Oregon Film Museum

The Oregon Film Museum occupies the old Clatsop County Jail, which featured prominently in the opening scene of The Goonies — where the Fratelli brothers staged their escape. The museum celebrates Oregon's history as a film location, covering productions from early silent films through to recent blockbusters. Oregon's diverse landscapes have made it a popular stand-in for various settings, and the museum has archival photographs, posters, and interactive exhibits about the industry.

The jailhouse setting is part of the appeal: visitors can pose in the cells used in the film, see original props, and watch footage from Oregon-shot productions. Entry is modest; the museum is small but enjoyable for film fans and a good complement to a visit to the Flavel House for Goonies completionists.
