Lancaster city, 15 km south, is the obvious base for the wider Pennsylvania Dutch country. The Central Market (founded 1730), the Lancaster Quilt Museum, and the Fulton Theatre are all worth time. From Lancaster, organised tours and quiet back-road drives reach the Amish farms around Bird-in-Hand, Intercourse, and Strasburg.
For something different, the Hershey company town is about 40 km west, with Hersheypark for those travelling with children and the Hershey Story museum for the rest.
