Wilbur Chocolate

Wilbur Chocolate operated a large factory in the centre of Lititz from 1900 to 2016, when production moved out of town. The factory is gone but the company maintains a candy store and small museum on North Broad Street that traces the company's history, displays a collection of antique chocolate moulds, and — most importantly — sells the chocolate.

The Wilbur Buds, dark chocolate drops in twisted foil, are the local equivalent of the Hershey Kiss and the obvious souvenir. The shop also runs short demonstrations of moulded chocolate making. Free admission, with the obvious gentle pressure to buy something.

A story
The Wilbur Bud — a small chocolate drop with the company name stamped across the base — predates the Hershey Kiss by several years. Wilbur claims it inspired the Kiss, though the Hershey company has politely never agreed.
